Hello again!! It has been a real roller coaster ride for me these past few weeks. My collaboration with Bonobos was fun and it left me a bit nostalgic for fashion. So, I knew that my next post, whenever that would be, it had to be about womenswear. What else would it be, right?! To continue the previous post about formal wear and tuxedos, let’s talk about some Wedding gowns. I’ve always really admired the technique and the many a hours that are put into making such an extravagant gown. I love the variety of options from silhouette, fabric, length and trims.

Looking through many family wedding albums ranging from the 70’s to Present you can really see the evolve of The Wedding gown. The fabric stopped looking cheap, the silhouette changes and the details are enhanced for the better. I like the fact that the gowns are getting more formal and the bride can alter it and dye, to be worn again. Smart Idea designers!! They are many designers out there, some more famous than others, yet I look at all of them.

We can not not talk about Bridal  gowns without mentioning one of my ultimate favorite designer, the fabulous Carolina Herrera. From ready to wear, to pre-seasons, resorts and bridal, all of her designs are chic and gorgeous; her evening and bridal gowns are just magnificent. For Carolina Herrera’s Summer/Spring Bridal 2015, the collection was about soft, elegant but feminine even with all the layers of tulle. What made this collection was all in the details and the over lace layering never loosing the Herrera touch. If I was a born a woman, I would definitely already be (financially) broke because of my style and taste but I will be in a deeper hole with a Carolina Herrera wedding gown.

 

Reem Acra was another great designer that showed versatility in its gowns. Although, the majority seemed to me a bit more red carpet gowns, nonetheless, they were all magnificent. The gold beading was a great accent to the gowns as well as the accessories, that gold chained glove the brides wore was a nice youthful-punk touch. These dresses, although are formal, this bride IS the center of attention and she wants to party all night.

Naeem Khan is another great show that I always look forward to seeing during Bridal Week. Like every other season it was no disappointment. The veils alone could have been a show its’ self. Very detailed and intricately created. Very beautiful. Naeem Khan’s bride is a classy, stylish and modern woman. She loves classic styles but done new and creative ways. The gowns are very detailed, overworked at times but seemed to work though, definitely something to admire. Drapes are nicely done, columns are exquisite and structured. My favorite piece was that mesh-chain like layer over a white column gown and it comes with a cape.

Jenny Packham was a designer that I was surprised with this season. I usually do not follow her style but once her show was over, a lot of people were buzzing about it. Her gowns were beautiful and could fit many body types. The majority empire and a bit slouchy, still very stylish indeed. The buzz came that of a plus size model strutting the runway looking radiant. I can see many plus size women wearing these bridal gowns on their special day. They should look review this collection for ideas and we should all pay attention to Jenny Packham.
